Join the UK’s largest construction project — the £48bn Hinkley Point C new‑build nuclear power station in Somerset. Our client, a multi‑disciplinary design and build contractor, is delivering an £80m scope of work within the turbine halls and is now seeking an I&C Design Engineer to help drive safe, reliable system delivery. Working alongside a broad team of engineering and construction specialists, you’ll shape detailed design packages, support installation activities, and ensure all systems meet UK nuclear safety and regulatory standards.
As I&C Design Engineer you will:
- Oversee the project lifecycle from early design development through commissioning and final handover.
- Produce, review, and validate I&C documentation — including hook‑up drawings and technical assessments — ensuring full compliance with regulatory, safety, and project standards.
- Prepare accurate material take‑offs, equipment schedules, and procurement information, maintaining clear and up‑to‑date documentation throughout.
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, civil, and control engineering teams, resolving technical queries and providing on‑site support during construction.
- Coordinate with suppliers and the client to ensure seamless system integration and successful delivery of all I&C elements.
Our client requires an I&C Design Engineer with:
- A background in I&C design within nuclear, power, or other regulated industries
- Knowledge of safety-related and field instrumentation
- Experience using tools such as AutoCAD, E3D/PDMS, or Aveva E&I
- A degree or HNC/HND in a relevant engineering discipline
- Professional membership (IET, InstMC) – desirable
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
- Familiarity with EPCC lifecycles, configuration control, and nuclear QA processes
Location: This role is based in on site at Hinkley Point C near Bridgwater in Somerset
Salary: Up to£85,000 per annum
